What’s the name of that painting? The Fisherman’s Wife? That was waaaay before tentacle hentai. Japan has had some crazy concepts in their history, but it’s safe to say that WWII was “inspiring”
I think Chuck needs to deepen his knowledge of the grotesque as depicted in anime. I’m surprised that he’s surprised that Japan has their own incredible brand of crazy.

Oh, you’ve seen “Kids”? Well I’ve seen “Ken Park.”
I think I’ve seen the film mentioned in the podcast, the Asian film where people get pleasure from pain. It’s called “Naked Blood” and I think I’ve seen that as well.
The numerous endings of The Butterfly Effect. There’s only one thing worse than being raped…

I don’t think it qualifies strictly as horror, but it has a supernatural premise, and horrific things do go on. I’m talking about Thirst, which is a Korean film.
For me, the best horror is not supernatural. The more grounded in reality it is, the better. I forget the name of it. but there was a recent movie (must be 2 or 3 years old) about kids who are killing people in the woods. It’s a European film.

I’ve never heard of Ken Park… CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. Now I just have to find it streaming somewhere.
I’d completely forgotten what should have been my pick for this podcast: The Gate. Those little demon things were fucking creepy! The moment I had to cover my eyes was when the kid had to stomp one to death. The squeals and the flailing… You almost felt worse for the thing!

I;m sure you can find it. It’s by your friend and mine, director of Kids, Larry Clark.
I own a hard copy of it. Around the time it was pissing everyone off, Netflix couldn’t find it in its heart to offer it on DVD. It just had this lonesome placeholder page.
