Alpha Counter Podcast 39: Go-Go Juice

Episode 39: “Giving Heads”

Kevin, “Paris”, M, and I got together to see Taken 2…but you’ll be hearing about that next week. This week, Chuck and I discuss our reactions to the sequel to one of the greatest action movies of all time. (Yes, still talking about Taken 2.)

Following this, we get into the continuing downfall of The Bar. As art imitates life, popular television reflects the celebrity-driven consumer-based culture that is a growing cancer to recent generations. This year’s poster child is Honey Boo Boo, ironically served to us via The Learning Channel.

What’s worse than TLC’s molestation by modern media industry is what we’ve done to ourselves on The Internet. It, too, was intended to be grand platform as a resource of information, a channel for live communication delivered at the speed of light, and a canvas for the creation of new art… Instead, we’ve built it to spread and strengthen our own disease. Rather than treat the damage from where our delusions and triggers stem, we instead accommodate for them. The bullied are becoming the bullies and we’re marching toward Tyranny of the Masses. For shame!

You know, shame… That sensation that separates us from the sociopaths.

Don’t ask; don’t tell…?

It’s worth noting that the Mom’s head barely fits in the image. Maybe the only to get her whole head is with a panoramic lens.

So, was listening to this episode on a long car ride, as I often do, with my girlfriend and my brother in the car. The show was going along as normal, with conversations about the new Taken movie moving into discussion of the Thing from 1982, which then lead into the discussion of the two headed girl. I probably should’ve known from the subtitle above of “giving heads”, but this part so disturbed my passengers that I was forced to change the program. (I later went back and listened to the entirety of it later on) Perhaps in future Sean, you could at least give a slight heads up when you are going to off on a rather disturbing tangent just for the sake of those who my happen to be around when your show comes up in my podcast que, no? Anywho, on a more positive note, The two times my current girlfriend has made it obvious to me that she is my nerdy soul mate is when I realized our first ever argument was between the two of us in a Barnes and Noble bookstore over the nature of Batman. (she’s still wrong, but we’ve agreed to disagree) And when, after showing her the first few episodes of Toradora on a Sunday afternoon, and then getting a text message that next night asking if I had anymore of the series cause she had just finished the entirety of the first season in a power marathon session. Yup, full on man chub there, and if she wasn’t living 3 hours away, I totally would have taken right there and then. Anywho, keep on podcasting, loving every second of it.

Heh, “give a heads up”… ISWYDT

Seriously, though, sorry dude. Consider this your only [trigger] warning because most of our podcasts are like this, really. I’m glad you dig our podcast, but I know it’s not for everyone. Share it at your own risk.

Also, congrats on the find! I love me some Toradora! so I share your chub.
