Episode 39: “Giving Heads”
Kevin, “Paris”, M, and I got together to see Taken 2…but you’ll be hearing about that next week. This week, Chuck and I discuss our reactions to the sequel to one of the greatest action movies of all time. (Yes, still talking about Taken 2.)
Following this, we get into the continuing downfall of The Bar. As art imitates life, popular television reflects the celebrity-driven consumer-based culture that is a growing cancer to recent generations. This year’s poster child is Honey Boo Boo, ironically served to us via The Learning Channel.
What’s worse than TLC’s molestation by modern media industry is what we’ve done to ourselves on The Internet. It, too, was intended to be grand platform as a resource of information, a channel for live communication delivered at the speed of light, and a canvas for the creation of new art… Instead, we’ve built it to spread and strengthen our own disease. Rather than treat the damage from where our delusions and triggers stem, we instead accommodate for them. The bullied are becoming the bullies and we’re marching toward Tyranny of the Masses. For shame!
